I love spicy anything, and these are spicy. The flavor is good. It's just extremely dry - much more so than venison biltong I've had in South Africa (ostrich, kudu, springbok, etc.) I will give it 4 starts for the fact that it is high protein, low fat (tastes like no fat), and filling. If you're after the delicious factor, I would go for the regular. I was surprised the difference in calories between this and the biltong with fat is so small.

Very yummy - the closest thing I have found to what is to be had in South Africa. The flavor is authentic, it's not overly fatty but just enough so to be moist and delicious. I like to separate into pre-weighed paper bags else the 1L bags go very quickly in my house!

Very disappointed. I used to get a choice as to how rare to choose. No choice as batches are too big was the reply. So biltong was inedible for me. Way too dry. That’s what happens when companies get too big and are taken over. No more orders from me.

We understand that many customers have personal preferences when it comes to the texture and moisture level of biltong. In the past, we were able to accommodate some requests, but because our products are now produced in larger batches under USDA regulations, we are no longer able to customize the rawness or moisture level of individual orders. The USDA requires our products to meet specific food safety standards for shelf stability, so we cannot offer biltong that is less dried than those standards allow.

This is the most authentic biltong I've had in the US. Lean, tasty, not overly dry. Stores well in the fridge and then the freezer after a few days. If only the little brown bags for storing in the fridge were a little thicker.

I just returned from 2 weeks in Botswana, and was so sad that I wasn't allowed to bring back to the US any of the chili bites biltong that I had fallen in love with there. After researching what was available to me in the US, Biltong Depot's name kept coming up with the best reviews as being authentic, so I decided to give them a try. They 100% live up to their reviews, their chili bites biltong is a ringer for what we got while on safari. So happy to have found such great biltong here in the US. My favorite high protein snack now!
